'Pletenichka' means 'small braid in Bulgarian, essentially, small Pletenitsa. Indeed, the Pletenichka Vocal Ensemble is a spin-off of the Pletenitsa Balkan choir and consists of 4-8 vocalists and 2 instrumentalists. It aims to interpret Balkan, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean vocal folk music  in a more intimate and experimental setting. The arrangements range from very traditional to very contemporary and spam a wide array of genres and regions. 

Pletenichka has been playing  to rave reviews in Boston and New York City and continues to thrive and delve into new sounds.
